Pre-Vis - Smurfs Lost Village

Pre-Vis

These are a group of unique projects to help promote "Smurfs: The Lost Village" that fit into the category of pre-visualization / technical visualization (Tech Vis). I designed and pitched lobby and campus decorations and statues, and provided approved designs for costumed walk about characters.

Smurf Village

This was a visualization of the Village in one of the planters outside of the studio. I scouted the location as well as completed measuring and photogrammetry scanning of the area to ensure accuracy.

Smurfette - Walkabout Character Head

I designed a character walkabout head for multiple characters for marketing and character meet and greets. I made the characters with a front-on expression and an open mouth smile to facilitate an opening for the performer to see through.

Additional physical considerations had to be taken into consideration, such as performer size. Other elements that are traditionally floating in space, like the eyebrows, had to be designed to integrate into the hat so they could be physically manufactured. These faced the same scrutiny from our character designer and LAFIG in terms of appeal and approval.

Smruf Village

The goal was to build a real life Smurf village on the studio campus for visitors to experience during the initial marketing campaign. The design and execution were also helpful for other projects.
These are some of measurements and plans created to bid this project.
